
| Local companies raise more than $18,000 for Navy SEAL Foundation |

Money will go to families of all killed in the Aug. 6 helicopter crash SILVERDALE, Wash. – Two local software companies raised $18,590 for the Navy SEALs and support personnel killed in the Aug. 6 helicopter crash in Afghanistan. The official check transfer from Silverdale-based Applied Technical Systems and Poulsbo-based Paladin Data Systems to the Navy SEAL Foundation will take place Friday, October 7 at 3 p.m. at the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport.
The event included a private cruise to and from Blake Island, courtesy of Kitsap Harbor Tours, where guests enjoyed the traditional salmon bake and Native American dance show. Congressman Norm Dicks attended as a special guest. The fundraiser was part of the national “31Heroes” fundraiser, which started in Virginia “The Navy SEALS have done a lot for us and it’s time we did something for them,” says ATS President & CEO Rick Leenstra, Sr. "We are pleased with the local community’s response and we are grateful for those who donated and helped us surpass our goal."
